Life of a Kitty
Days like today make me wish my life was as simple as my Kitty’s. Ate a snack at 9:00 then did not eat again until 7:00. Coffee just agitated the situation and the stress of looking for a house. Soon this day will just be a memory.
Where is my Snow
All day the talk has been about how much snow is coming. Today the Denver folk didnt even come into the office for fear of the snow. My parents even came a day early to avoid the blizzard. All day storm warnings and forecasts for 12 inches of snow on every TV. However, here sunny is, pining after the snow only getting rain. Don’t worry soon sunny the snow will come I am sure of it. In the meantime I did cut out of work early to have a beer with some of the co-workers.
God Works
My life is ruled by irony, the moments I have in my life that can be tied to that statement are countless, or at least it feels that way. The times when I am trying to leave work and get a call 2 minutes before I leave, or coming across a gas station right when I need it or when I am putting a bid on a house and it turns out a better one comes up at that exact moment. We will see where this goes, but God really enjoys defining irony in my life.
Warm
Today was a record high 70 whopping degrees, it was one of those days where I feel guilty for not taking off really early and going to the park with the kids. I did get to go for a walk at work, that was very nice. However we are only 2 months away from spring, we will see how this winter feels, at least it wont be as long as the bitter cold of last winter.
Loose Tea
Quite the day with church, swimming (Thanks Donna), house hunting, and negotiating. At the end, there is something satisfying about a cold bear or a good tea. Sometimes I do a loose leaf without the ball, it is nice and satisfying, the most stressful part is picking the tea that fits your mood. In this case it was a mint night time tea I got for my birthday. Ahhh life is good.

I was bold this evening, Andrea had a night at the bar with co-workers and I spent the evening with the kids. Even though I didn’t have to I decided to push through and do bath night. I developed a nice strategy of divide and conquer, 2 kids would stay upstairs and watch the roku while coloring, the other would take a bath while I cleaned the house. It worked well. Whoever just got done with a bath was able to choose the video they watched while coloring. It was awesome.
Battery
Life would be great if we ran on batteries, think about it almost all problems could be fixed with a simple swap of batteries:
Tired – Get a new Battery
Low Labito – bigger batteries
sluggishness – ‘max’ batteries.
insomnia – remove batteries.
Pharmaceutical companies would go out of business.

House Hunters
House hunting today, It is amazing how you can look at a house the first go around and think…meh, but the next time think…wow, this place really works!
As a side note, Skov was the hero of the day for taking 4 kids home with him so we could go from house to house and discuss items

Blue Man
It was great having our first date night. It was a good night completely relaxing. We had dinner at Crave where we ate with Erin and Matt and had good conversation.
Blue man was good but the best part was getting to spend time with my lovely wife.
Leaves
A hard morning’s work. The kids were all good with the raking for about 5 minutes before they lost interest. But it was great I was able to watch the kids play in the yard and chase down shiner. Once sunny came outside one of the girls spent her time walking her around on a leash. I would really like to get a routine going so everyone knows what to expect with their day.
What is fun is how much different a chore like raking leaves is now. The kids bring a whole new element of fun and disorder that I find very enjoyable.

Toys & Scotch
I have always thought about the time that we forget. What happens to those days?
Today nothing significant happened, we did sign the papers to foster the kids but it isn’t as significant as them moving in however it is a part of my day.
The kids will forget most of these first years of their lives, they will remember the most potent moments. For instance, I remember driving to our house after I graduated from pre-school. But I dont remember my birthday. I do remember a red balloon on the end of a stick but not what car we were in.
What will the kids remember? Will they remember moving day? What happens to all the days they don’t remember, what about the days I do not remember? Do they not count? By no means! These days still shape and make me who I am just as well as the significant days. I need to make sure I keep my thoughts straight on these days, that I keep tuning myself to the Man/Husband/Dad that I want to be. Keeping this in mind each day I try to make myself less of who I dislike and more of the person God wants me to be. I have found that by focusing on how I want to respond to small events in my life I can control how I react to the big ones. This is what will make me who I want to be and a better man than I am. Same thing goes with my children, each day should be teachable and I should lead them in the way they should go, not just wait for a significant moment.
BTW The scotch in the picture is Dewars 12, while it isnt a great scotch, it is a fitting one for this occasion, not memorable, but comforting and tasty.

Organized
Decluttering is the way to go, I could have spent an extra 20 minutes on the couch or I could organize the refrigerator and cupboards. The way I see it, the more organized things are, the less stress it will be to accomplish tasks later. I didnt organize by a rigid set, I organized by usefulness, In this manner I should be able to just grab whatever I need without searching or bumping.
Many people dont know this about me, but the more stressed I get, the more my mind organizes things around me to make sense of things. It is one of the things that allows me to be good at my job.

Tangles
So there are few things I hate more than tangles. Cables, hoses, lives, everything gets tangled so easily. Also as I just discovered, it is very difficult to take a good picture of tangles..where the heck do you focus?!?
So anyway, I spend lots of time de-tangling things, straightening them out so that they make sense and are easy to deal with. It is the job of an engineer, it is how we think, take something excessively complicated and organize it in a way to fit the whole.
Life is so tangled right now with family, vacation, and careers. What makes things worse is more keeps getting added to the tangle. So there is nothing to do but take a deep breath, and start tugging things into an order that makes sense. Sometimes you have to unplug some stuff, other times you have to take the long way around. However, it is all worth it when you step back to admire everything in order and take that deep breath of accomplishment.
Maybe, when everything is in order around here again, I will take a nice pretty picture of a well organized cabling closet.
